This Is The Ford Shelby GT350R That Will Race

As a general rule of thumb, cars that wear the Shelby badge are built to dominate the race track; this is why, when the all-new GT350 was launched, we asked ourselves where the snake would earn its stripes.

Ford just unveiled the GT350R-C, and our curiosity is satisfied: Ford’s coupe will race in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge for the rest of the 2015 season.

Apart from the visual modifications (like the lower lips, the rear spoiler and the aluminium wheels that replace the stock carbon fibre units), the GT350R-C receives new dampers, larger sway bars and different camber settings to make it more competitive on the track.

We know that the naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V8 will be used, but exact power hasn’t been disclosed. The road-going GT350R has 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and we expect that the race car will have more than that.

We already can’t wait to hear this car scream at its 8250 rpm limit!
