The End Of The Shoe Box; Scion's xB Will Be Axed

During an event at which a few journalists had the opportunity to drive the new Scion iM and iA, Doug Murtha, vice-president for Scion, answered a few questions. One of those questions was about the end of the Scion xB. According to Mr. Martha, the vehicle won’t be sold after 2015.

This is sad news for people who loved their shoebox-shaped vehicles… Especially since they lost the Nissan Cube last year and the Honda Element before that.

The first generation of the Scion xB was an instant success, and pretty much single-handedly launched the Scion brand. It was then remodelled in 2008, but the newcomer was larger and a lot less fun to drive than its predecessor, which spelled its doom.

Sales were down year after year, and even a slew of limited editions couldn’t help save it.

Scion hopes that their new vehicle, the iM, might prove interesting to those who have lost their beloved boxes.
