The Electric 2016 Kia Soul EV Has Been Updated

Published on July 15, 2015 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

The little Kia Soul received an electric version in 2014; the small crossover has been a tremendous success so far, which is why the manufacturer wanted to update it only two short years later.

The most important news is that there is a new version; the Soul EV-e starts at $31,950. Even though it is the entry model, it still has heated seats and a heated steering wheel as well as six speakers. We are awaiting confirmation to see if that version will be available here.

All Soul EVs receive a few upgrades, like a lock on the charging port, an illuminated USB port and two new colours: Bright Silver and Shadow Black.

A Sun & Fun package is also added to the Soul EV+. This includes a panoramic roof, LED interior lights that can change colours and LEDs inside the speaker grilles that beat in time with the music’s bass.

There are no major changes to the drivetrain, which means the Soul EV is equipped with a 27 kWh battery and an electric motor developing 109 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque.

UPDATE: Kia Canada just sent us informations about the 2016 Soul EV sold here. There is a new panoramic roof offered, as well as a Titanium paintjob. For now, the EV-e won't be offered here.
