A Crossover Based On The Nissan Leaf?

Published on July 29, 2015 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Nissan has been building the Leaf for a few years; the small electric car has been a success (especially here!) even though it is a little expensive, because it is a bespoke platform with a bespoke motor.

This is why, when the next generation of the car arrives, it would be logical for Nissan to add another model to the Leaf family… And what’s better than a crossover?

These are only rumours –we have no official information on the Leaf’s next iteration– but it would only be logical that Nissan would develop more than one vehicle on the EV platform.

Right now, we expect the next Nissan Leaf to arrive around 2017, and its technologies should enable it to travel up to 400 km on a single charge. It’s possible that an eventual SUV would be heavier, bigger and less aerodynamic, but it could also carry more batteries; therefore, range should theoretically be the same.

It’s important to note that Nissan hasn’t announced anything on this topic yet; the only thing we are sure of is that Nissan will offer more than one electric vehicle.

What do you think? Would you buy a crossover based on the Leaf?
