Evolution Production Partially Halted for 2010

Usually bearing the brunt of vehicular restrictions, Canadians will have a pleasant surprise in the 2009 model year, as Canada and Puerto Rico will be the only two countries to receive the 2009 Lancer Evolution. Due to a gratuitously late launch in 2008, Mitsubishi’s US branch currently has a large enough stock of both the Evolution and Evolution MR models that a halt has been placed on US production for the 2010 model year. According to a popular inventory tracking website, there is currently 887 Evolution’s available in the United States; more than enough to cover the Evo’s sales. However, such news should not be misconstrued; the Evolution has been a sales success for Mitsubishi, with the all-new 2008 model correlating to a 50% increase in sales.

Come 2010, the Evo will again enter production for the US market, with a variety of minor tweaks.
