BMW M Performance Edition Cars Launched in Canada
German manufacturer BMW will be offering a limited run of M235i, 335i and 435i M Performance Edition cars for the Canadian market.
M Performance, by the way, is a roundup of performance and appearance components customers can add to their cars and trucks, inspired by BMW’s M division.
These three vehicles will feature a full M Performance Aerodynamics body kit, including a rear diffuser, black kidney grilles, a carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts and a sportier exhaust system. The 335i Sedan and 435i Coupé also get 20-inch alloy wheels, while the M235i Coupé wears 19-inch alloys. Each model will be offered in a unique choice of colours, including a few BMW Individual paint jobs such as Suzuka Grey and Grey Black for the 335i, Dakar Yellow II and Lava Grey for the 435i.
In addition, these limited-edition BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series cars will benefit from a BMW M Performance Power kit, which boosts output – although the manufacturer doesn’t say by how much – and makes the cars even quicker. Both power and torque are said to increase, yet fuel consumption figures remain the same.
The tricked-out BMW 2 Series Coupé doesn’t get a power upgrade, but sheds weight by deleting the electric seat adjustments, the sunroof and sport auto transmission options. The M235i M Performance Edition weighs 88 lbs. (40 kg) less than a run-of-the-mill M235i and includes a steering wheel trimmed with carbon fibre and wrapped in Alcantara.
Only 50 units of the M235i M Performance Edition, 200 units of the 335i M Performance Edition and 200 units of the 435i M Performance Edition will be sold in Canada. Pricing is set at $59,900 for the M235i (six-speed manual only), $65,900 for the 335i xDrive (six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic), $69,900 for the 435i (manual or automatic) and $71,900 for the 435i xDrive (manual or automatic).
