The New MINI Connected App Focuses On Driving-Related Functions

The first MINI Connected smartphone app was released five years ago, and a newly redesigned version will be available for download later this month, offering five main features.

The app’s new functionality is called MINI Streetwise, which displays the best route the user should take before starting the trip. Using personal driving data and past journeys, the app can show information such as trip duration and fuel consumption. By selecting a destination, the software will suggest the best route and alternative routes, and once the smartphone has been linked to the car, the info will be displayed on the MINI’s infotainment screen. Simply put, MINI Streetwise recommends the best way to get from point A to point B.

From the user’s smartphone, MINI Connected will display the vehicle’s physical location, how much fuel is left in the tank with estimated range as well as the last journey recorded. There’s also a list of third-party apps that can be used in the vehicle through MINI Connected.

The Sports Instruments and Force Meter applications display performance data, including engine speed, torque, engine temperature, current engine output as well as on-screen accelerating forces while the vehicle is in motion. Finally, Online Search locates places and addresses and can send them to the vehicle’s navigation system, and a connection to the smartphone’s calendar can display the user’s to-do list and appointments on the vehicle’s screen.
