Subaru Refines Legacy And Outback For 2016
After being totally redesigned last year, the 2016 Subaru Legacy sedan and 2016 Subaru Outback crossover have received some mild technological and safety tweaks.
All versions of the Legacy and Outback receive wiper-linked automatic on/off headlights. Simply put, if the windshield wipers are activated for more than 10 seconds, the car will turn on its headlights to increase visibility. The EyeSight Driver Assist package adds a Lane Keep Assist system, which nudges the car back into its lane using the electric power steering system.
Convenience changes include on-screen guidelines on the standard rearview camera that can now be switched on and off as well as a lock and unlock chirp for the keyless entry system. The seven-inch infotainment system found in Limited trim levels of the 2016 Subaru Legacy and the 2016 Subaru Outback is now compatible with Siri for Apple iPhone users. The system also integrates SiriusXM Advanced Audio Features, which includes instant replay, Smart Favourites (which can record 30 minutes of five stations simultaneously) and TuneStart (which allows you to start a song from the beginning).
Both models are equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine as standard, which develops 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, mixed with either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic. There’s also a 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine and CVT gearbox combo, which produce 256 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on every version of the Legacy and the Outback.
The 2016 Subaru Legacy starts out at an MSRP of $23,495 before freight and delivery charges, while the 2016 Outback carries a base MSRP of $27,995.
