2016 Toyota Tacoma: We're Driving It This Week
When the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon hit the market last year, they seriously shook up the compact pick-up segment. With the competition starting to show its age, these two immediately took the lead. But their dominance is about to be challenged, with the new-generation Toyota Tacoma on its way. Toyota intends to defend its territory with this fully revamped pick-up.
How do they plan to do it? They’re offering:
- A more resistant chassis and a frame reinforced with high-resistance steel
- A new 3.5-litre Atkinson-cycle V6 that delivers 270 horsepower
- Improved agility and handling
- A more chiseled front treatment with raised hood, wider fender flairs, higher beltline and redesigned front grille
- The first-ever three-panel box cover included as factory standard equipment
- Wireless connectivity and navigation options, including a standard mount for a GoPro camera allowing you to record your adventures
- Available high-tech headlamps and LED daytime running lights
- Four different versions, two configurations and a wide selection of equipment
We’ll be spending the next few days in the Seattle-Tacoma area in Washington State, as we test the Tacoma on and off the road.
