Ford Focus ST - You Can Add More Power Without Risk
Anyone who owns a performance vehicle is familiar with the modification dilemma; you want more power, but you are on the razor’s edge between adding parts and losing your warranty.
A few manufacturers offer simple modifications to extract more juice from your engine without necessarily turning it into a time bomb. Performance kits add a wide variety of parts, from a simple air filter to high-flow exhausts and modified computers. Even better, they are usually available at your dealer’s parts counter.
Ford has launched a new optimization program for the Focus ST, its turbocharged compact. It includes an optimized computer, a larger intercooler, a less restrictive air intake and a handheld tuning device.
With these additions, the Focus ST develops 275 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque, which is 23 horsepower and 26 pound-feet of torque more than what it came with from the factory.
Sold at Ford dealerships, this kit will not void the manufacturer’s warranty.
