2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R: We're Driving Them At Laguna Seca This Week

The Car Guide is currently travelling to Laguna Seca in beautiful California to put the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and its big brother the GT350R through their paces, both on and off the track.

These beasts are powered by a 5.2-litre atmospheric V8 producing 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque.

The car is connected to the ground via an electronically-adaptable MagneRide magnetic suspension; the R version adds a mode more adapted to track duty, modified geometry for carving corners more efficiently and a large carbon-fibre rear wing.

No A/C, no radio and no rear seats are par for the course in the R. These drastic measures were taken in order to keep weight at a minimum; even the wheels are made of carbon fibre...

We are trying the car soon. Stay tuned for an exceptional test-drive...
