Here Is The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Convertible

The arrival of a new Mercedes-Benz is an important event; when it's an S-Class, the brand's most luxurious and technologically-advanced flagship, it's even more significant.

When the manufacturer announced that we would get a new iteration of the S-Class coupe and convertible, we were more than eager to see what the car would look like; Mercedes-Benz sent us a teaser shot of it, but we were told we had to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to see the convertible.

But some pictures were leaked, and Mercedes-Benz finally released the full specification and pictures of the 2016 S-Class Convertible.

The biggest difference between this newcomer and the coupe version is, obviously, the roof: available in four different colours (black, dark blue, tan and dark red), it can be retracted in around 20 seconds, even if the car is driving 60 km/h.

For more comfort, buyers can specify an option package which includes heated seats, steering wheel and armrests. There is also an optional fragrance dispenser (we will have to test its usefulness when the top is down) as well as an automatic wind deflector and the AIRSCARF system, which shoots hot air onto the passenger's neck.

The base-model S550 will be powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 pumping out 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, which should be enough for most people. If you want more, you'll have to go for the AMG version, like the S63 and its 5.5-litre V8. With 585 horsepower and available all-wheel drive, it can get from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Convertible will arrive in European dealerships next Spring; ours should follow shortly thereafter.
