Here Is The 2016 Volkswagen Passat

There is finally some good news coming out of Volkswagen this week! The manufacturer just released the 2016 Passat, their newest midsize sedan.

The most obvious change is the front fascia. With a new hood, new fenders, an updated bumper and an all-new grille, the car looks more modern than ever. The back end also gets some nice touches, like a different bumper cover and trunk lid. According to the manufacturer, the only parts of the Passat that are identical to last year’s are the roof, the doors and the side panels.

Volkswagen is also offering an R-Line variant of its Passat for the first time. Lower side skirts, black accents in the front bumper, a rear diffuser and 19-inch aluminium wheels give this car a sportier look.

The Passat’s cockpit has been modernized; the dashboard has been rethought (with a larger screen between the dials), the materials are supposedly of a higher quality and the infotainment system has been replaced with the MIBII unit, which integrates a few new technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety-wise, the car now has a full suite of driving aids, including the standard automatic collision braking.

There are three engines for the North American Passat: the 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder is back as standard equipment, while more expensive models will get the 3.6-litre VR6 that now makes 280 horsepower. There is also a TDI version, but you should probably wait before ordering one, especially since dealers can’t sell you one until further notice…
