2016 Nissan LEAF Gets Improved Range

Nissan’s all-electric LEAF is back for 2016 with a choice of three trim levels and a base price of $32,698 before freight and delivery charges, as well as applicable rebates in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.

The base LEAF S is still equipped with a 24-kWh battery that provides a range of up to 133 km. However, LEAF SV and SL trims now get a 30-kWh battery, which increases range to a maximum of 172 km on a full charge. Every LEAF also includes a Quick Charge Port.

Audio and connectivity systems have also been upgraded. The LEAF S receives a 5.0-inch colour display with NissanConnect with Mobile Apps suite, while the SV and SL boast a 7.0-inch display with multi-touch control, navigation and voice recognition. The on-screen graphics have been improved and charging screen information can be automatically updated every time the car’s ignition is turned on.

SV and SL trims also get the NissanConnect EV system, a remote connection to the vehicle that allows the owner to monitor the battery’s charge level, manage charging times and turn on the heat or air conditioning from a distance.

Last but not least, two new paint colours are offered: Coulis Red and Deep Blue Pearl.

Green-vehicle rebates applicable to the purchase of a 2016 Nissan LEAF amount to $8,250, $8,500 and $8,000 for BC, Ontario and Quebec residents respectively.
