TVR's Return: Cosworth Will Supply Engines

A short while ago, we mentioned that TVR would come back after being on hiatus for the last decade. The brand went bankrupt in the early 2000s, but they had been building sport coupes and roadsters for the better part of the century. We learned that they would come back by building cars designed by Gordon Murray, and they had the will to go racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Today, we learned that Cosworth will be handling TVR's engines, and since Cosworth stopped building their own powertrains a while ago, they will rely on a familiar block: the Coyote 5-litre V8 usually found in the Ford Mustang GT.

Power output has yet to be announced, but since the GT has 435 horsepower on tap, we can expect that engines massaged by Cosworth could muster up to 500 horsepower without any kind of turbo or supercharger. After all, Cosworth earned its reputation by building Formula 1 engines for some of the most successful teams, such as McLaren, Lotus, Williams, Lola, Brabham, Parnelli, Wolf, Tyrrell…
