2016 Ford Mustang GT King Edition: The King's Mustang

In the music world, The King nickname is associated with Elvis Presley; sports fans will probably associate it more with LeBron James.

Among racing fans however, The King can only mean one person: Richard Petty. The NASCAR driver is among the most celebrated racers of all time, winning the championship a grand total of seven times. He also won the Daytona 500 seven times and has 200 individual wins on his scoreboard. Some iconic cars owe their fame to him: for example, he used to drive a sky-blue 1970 Plymouth Superbird... Ever heard of it?

Nowadays, Richard Petty isn’t driving a race car anymore. At the young age of 78, he prefers to use his time designing high-performance Ford Mustangs that bear his name.

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT King Edition was recently unveiled. It features a supercharged V8, a unique body kit and a production run limited to 300 units!

The ‘’base-model’’ King Edition starts at $67,495 USD. It comes with 670 horsepower, a MagnaFlow exhaust, adjustable sway bars, a beefier rear axle and Ford Performance half-shafts to handle the power. There is also a set of 20-inch HRE wheels shod in Continental Extreme tires included. Only 243 of these will be built.

If you want an even more exclusive version, you can get the King Premier version; at $90,495 USD, it adds a high-performance brake kit, unique stickers and a bespoke leather interior. Only 43 coupes and 14 convertibles will roll out of the factory.
