Nissan's 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Is In Tokyo

At Nissan’s booth at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo (which was created for the Gran Turismo video game) was on display.

While the original concept was painted grey, which is usually associated with Nissan’s GT-R, the car in the above pictures is painted matte red. Furthermore, the grille also sports the brand’s V-shaped chrome boomerang, like most of today’s Nissan products.

For now, there is no drivetrain in the car, but this isn’t the last time you’ll see this concept around; it stands to reason that the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo is an early tease of what the next GT-R could look like.

The most recent rumours talk about a hybrid drivetrain for the next GT-R; just like the race car Nissan is currently working on (the Nissan GT-R LM, which didn’t have a lot of success on the track at this year’s 24H of Le Mans), the upcoming GT-R could make use of a pair of electric motors on the rear axle coupled with a 3-litre V6 driving the front wheels and a generator. If that were to happen, the car could have 700 or 800 horsepower on tap.

We’ll have to wait to see the next Nissan GT-R, since the R36 (Nissan’s current GT-R is the code-named R35) should be launched in 2018.
