2016 Honda CR-Z Gets New styling And More Technology Features
Honda’s sporty two-seater hybrid gets a refreshed look for 2016 in order to garner a little more attention, as well as new features that are being integrated across the brand’s product line-up.
The 2016 Honda CR-Z receives more aggressive bumpers, a more angular front grille, triangular fog lamps, side skirts and new alloy wheels. Inside, the car gets brushed metallic finish trim and contrast stitching, the centre console has been redesigned with a more comfortable armrest and a deeper storage compartment, and the parking brake handle has been replaced by an electronic switch. A new sound system with seven-inch touchscreen is available, as is the Honda LaneWatch passenger-side blind spot camera system. The CR-Z is now available with an intelligent key system, too.
No changes for the CR-Z’s powertrain, still composed of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. With the standard six-speed manual, output is rated at 130 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, and with the optional CVT automatic, torque is adjusted to 127 lb-ft. The car also offers a three-mode drive system with Econ, Normal and Sport settings, while a wheel-mounted “S+” button maximizes throttle response and enhances performance.
The CR-Z’s handling has also been sharpened for 2016 with a bigger front stabilizer bar and a wider rear track. In addition, front and rear brake discs are now larger for improved stopping power.
Pricing has not yet been announced for the Canadian market, but the 2016 Honda CR-Z should arrive in dealerships in November.
