GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate: More And More Luxury
The Denali name was first used on a GMC product back in 1999; introduced as a new top-of-the-line version of the Yukon to steal sales from the Lincoln Navigator, the name was introduced as the pinnacle of luxury for the manufacturer.
Now there is a Denali variant of pretty much every GMC model. From the Sierra to the Yukon or even the Terrain, each vehicle has its own luxury version.
Today, the brand announced they wish to go even more upscale. In an effort to challenge the Ford F-150 Limited (which slots in above the Platinum) and the RAM Laramie Limited, GMC will now offer an even more expensive version of the Sierra 1500: the Denali Ultimate.
So what’s different compared to an ordinary Denali? First of all, it is only offered in Crew Cab configuration, a 4x4 drivetrain and either a 5-foot, 8-inch or a 6-foot, 6-inch box. It comes standard with a 6.2-litre V8 and an eight-speed transmission, and it is fitted with a magnetic suspension as well as a trailer brake controller as standard equipment.
Visually, the Denali Ultimate can be spotted thanks to its 22-inch wheels, sunroof and chromed tow hooks, as well as its pair of electric sidesteps that not only retract automatically, but can also slide back to allow access to the side of the bed.
The inside of the Denali Ultimate is richly appointed, with 12-way adjustable, heated and ventilated front bucket seats, a heated steering wheel and aluminum trim, as well as everything that comes with the regular Denali.
Pricing for the 2016 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate hasn’t been announced yet, but we can expect it to be sold for more than $62,585, which is the price of the plain Denali.
