The Warm Sand Of Arizona Greets The 2016 Nissan Titan XD
Nissan is trying their very best to increase the Titan’s popularity in America. And they chose Arizona as the location to introduce the new generation of their full-size pickup.
The Tennessee Titans play in the Nissan Stadium; the concept is strong, and the redesigned version of the vehicle is very “muscular,” not to mention “American.”
However, the Titan has to be a convincing vehicle for those who need a pickup capable of performing some “real” work. The XD version is undoubtedly the appropriate response, which transforms the Titan into a heavy-duty truck.
This week, we’ll be trying out the Titan XD in the Arizona desert and putting its capabilities to the test. Including the hitch that’s located directly in the truck’s bed, perfect for towing big trailers.
Otherwise, the rest of the pickup’s components are pretty straightforward in the work truck segment. The suspension is more solid, the brakes are more resistant and the differential is adapted to pull heavier loads, as the Titan XD’s maximum capacity is rated at 12,000 lbs.
The Titan XD is available with a 5.0-litre Cummins turbo-diesel V8 that, we only hope, will help bring large-displacement diesels back to the forefront, while the EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 in the Ram 1500 broke the myth that bigger is better.
Actually, let’s just hope that this engine will help the Titan become an interesting choice in a market segment that needs a little foreign competition.
