Buick Avenir Concept: The Brand's Future?
Buick has been on a stylistic roll lately. During the Montreal Auto Show, they will showcase their Avenir Concept, which was unveiled for the first time at last year's Detroit Auto Show.
GM's Australian's stylists are to thank for this car's lines. The Avenir takes inspiration from the brand's storied past, notably the 1938 Y-Job concept. There is also a large chrome grille at the front - a tribute to the fifties - and the roof's sharp line is reminiscent of the sixties' Riviera.
Powering the concept is a V6engine. While the decision of not fitting a V8 in this car might be bold, this powertrain has the merit of being frugal. It is also at the cutting edge of technology. A nine-speed automatic transmission is also part of the deal.
The cockpit, designed by the US team, comes with a 12-inch touchscreen, automatic driver's preferences recognition, wireless charging, GM's OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi capabilities and ionized cabin air filtration.
For now, the Buick Avenir Concept has not given birth to a production model. However, when we take into account China's love for this brand, we wouldn't be surprised to see a similar-looking full-size sedan in the coming years...
