An AWD Family Wagon: The 2016 MINI Clubman ALL4

A few days after seeing the first images of the John Cooper Works Convertible, MINI brings us a vehicle more adapted to our winter climate: the chubby little wagon in the above pictures is the Clubman ALL4 which, as the name implies, comes with an all-wheel-drive system.

This is the first application of this new-generation drivetrain: thanks to new technical advancements, it can send available power to the wheel that has the most traction at all times. This not only helps acceleration, but also handling and all-weather capabilities.

The base-model Cooper comes with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder developing 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. In the Cooper S, a turbocharged 2.0-litre produces 189 horsepower and an impressive 207 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the drivetrain, a six-speed manual comes standard, but you can get an eight-speed automatic gearbox if you want.

Prices have yet to be announced, but we can expect a price around $2,000 more than the standard Clubman (which starts at $24,990).
