Honda Stops Sales And Recalls The 2016 Civic

Published on February 3, 2016 in Recalls by Sylvain Raymond

Yesterday, we learned that there was a recall and a stop-sale order on the Mazda CX-5. Today, the same situation happened to the 2016 Honda Civic.

The affected models are those equipped with the 2.0-litre engine. According to a press release, the pistons' pin snap rings may have been improperly installed, which could cause catastrophic engine damage. So far, the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine isn't affected.

Dealers received a notice to suspend sales of those cars, while customers will shortly receive a letter informing them about the whole recall process. About 8,000 cars are affected in Canada and 33,000 in the United States.

Dealers will have to inspect the faulty engines to make sure everything is still properly affixed.
