Jaguar Opens Free Performance Driving Academy

With new ownership that seems bent on getting the English brand back in line with their true sports car roots, Jaguar’s latest press releases have been relatively exciting. Ranging from the news that enthusiasts can expect to see a new, more hard-core model that brings the brand back into the dedicated sports car market to the release of the latest 510 horsepower XFR, Tata’s takeover appears to have been good for the beleaguered brand.

And in the latest press release, perhaps the most exciting news of all. Should you happen to go out and purchase either the new XFR or XKR, you will cordially be invited to partake in Jaguar’s new R Performance Academy. Granted, for those of us in North America, following through on the invitation will require a flight to Jolly Old England, but the offer is representative of Tata’s commitment to rekindling Jaguar’s sporting provenance. And while the current R Performance Academy may take place at the company’s test track in Gaydon, Warwickshire, Tata is currently looking at a larger, more accessible facility that would also allow potential owners to drive various models in various trim specifications to better ascertain which model they would prefer to purchase. With a projected cost of $8.9 million Canadian, the new center is expected to be completed in a few years.
