An Update on the Mazda CX-5 Recall

Last week, we reported on a recall of the Mazda CX-5 that involved a problem regarding a potential rupture of the tube connecting the vehicle’s fuel filler neck with the tank, and even forced the brand to temporarily stop sales in dealerships.

Mazda Canada provided us with an update on the situation, and the CX-5 is now back on sale. Actually, the stop-sale order lasted only four days, and all affected vehicles in inventory are ready to be sold. According to the company, the fix requires less than 20 minutes at a Mazda dealership.

Clients concerned by the recall have been contacted. However, if you own a 2014 or 2015 Mazda CX-5 that is believed to be one of the 48,412 units affected in Canada, and the manufacturer hasn’t reached you yet, you can call their customer service department at 1-800-263-4680. You can also visit the recall section of their website at https://www.mazda.ca/en/owners/recalls/ and by entering your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN, you’ll be able to see if your CX-5 is affected by the recall.

Mazda Canada also pointed out that this is a preventive recall, and no incidents or injuries have been reported.
