2017 Acura MDX: New York will get the New SUV

New York’s upcoming auto show will host the global reveal of Acura’s upcoming SUV. The thoroughly reworked 2017 MDX will mark the future of Acura’s SUV product range.

We don’t know exactly what lurks under this new bodywork (in fact, we can’t even clearly see said bodywork in the teaser shot), but if we are to believe what’s revealed so far, the beak-shaped grille that’s found on the current MDX and RDX models will disappear.

Drivetrain-wise, Acura will probably use the MDX’s current setup; after all, it was updated last year. This means it could feature a nine-speed automatic gearbox and Acura’s latest iteration of their SH-AWD system. The 2016 MDX was also updated with AcuraWatch, which integrates many safety technologies.

In the above picture, we can also see that the SUV looks burlier than it used to be; this might be an optical illusion, but we won’t know for sure until the New York Auto Show opens on March 23.
