2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: We’re Driving it This Week

This week, The Car Guide is travelling to Europe to attend the presentation of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The 10th generation of Mercedes-Benz’s star model was unveiled as a world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show. The vehicle’s style has been fully revamped and the cabin is now more spacious, thanks to a 65-mm increase for the wheelbase and a 43-mm gain in total length.

With an updated design, the new gen looks a lot more like its big sister, the S-Class. The E-Class is now more in line with the competition, as its dynamic capabilities are emphasized with style enhancements from AMG, Mercedes’ high-performance division. Inside, the redesigned car flaunts new luxury features and can even be equipped with a virtual instrument package presented on a high-resolution screen.

Four-cylinder turbo

There’s a new selection of engines under the hood, including a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo. Who would have thought we’d see an gasoline-powered E-Class with just four cylinders? For extra punch, the E 400’s six-cylinder turbo is back. And what about the transmission? It’s a nine-speed automatic!

As you’d expect, the 2017 E-Class is brimming with technology, including the intelligent assistance system that takes care of steering and keeping your vehicle in the middle of its lane.

Check back for our complete review of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class on March 8.
