FCA Will Bring Two Surprises at the 2016 Moab Easter Jeep Safari

The Moab Easter Jeep Safari is an almost religious event for Jeep enthusiasts. Every year, hundreds of fans meet up in the desert and go off-roading. This year's gathering will be the event's 50th edition.

Even the manufacturer gets in on the fun: in the last few years, Jeep unveiled unique concepts at the Easter Safari to gauge interest based on the response they get from their fans. For example, if the brand installs a new bumper and everybody likes it, that part might find its way into the MOPAR catalog...

This year, there will be at least two big surprises at the Safari: Jeep teased us with the two shots above, giving us an idea of what they will unveil there.

The first one is named Crew Chief. It's too early to tell what this is, but we can speculate that it's based on the Wrangler and features a front end made to look like a 1960's J 3000 pickup (or the Jeep J-12 concept, which appeared in 2012). Since the back end is invisible, we think it might be a pickup truck.

The second concept is even more interesting: we can only see the front three-quarter view of this Wrangler, but it is named Trailcat... Could this mean it packs a 707-horsepower supercharged V8?

The Moab Easter Jeep Safari starts on March 19. The brand will showcase these two vehicles as well as five others that have remained mysterious so far...
