Another Management Change at Volkswagen: Michael Horn Steps Down

Ever since the beginning of the diesel engine scandal at Volkswagen, the company’s management has been shaken up quite a bit. A while ago, we learned that Martin Winterkorn, head of the German manufacturer, quit a few days before a meeting with executive board that would decide of his fate.

It’s now Michael Horn’s turn to jump ship. According to a press release, the president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America is leaving the company after two years in his management role and after 25 years of service for the German automaker. His departure is said to have been decided through a mutual agreement with Volkswagen AG.

He will be replaced on an interim basis with Hinrich J. Woebcken, Chairman of company’s executive board in America.

Some might say that Michael Horn’s departure arrives at a critical moment for Volkswagen, as the company has until March 24 to present a solution plan to the U.S. government regarding their diesel engines, which currently aren’t meeting emissions regulations.
