2017 Mercedes-AMG E 43 uncovered

After unveiling the new Mercedes-AMG C 43, a more affordable—although less powerful—variant of the beastly C 63 AMG, the brand strikes again with the E 43. The latter will position itself between the run-of-the-mill E-Class and AMG’s E 63.

The E 43 includes the brand’s 4MATIC all-wheel drivetrain as well as a nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine chosen to propel this car is a twin-turbo V6. With a displacement of 3.0 litres, this engine develops 396 horsepower as well as 384 lb.-ft. of torque that peaks at 2500 r/min. According to AMG, that’s enough for the sedan to blast from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds.

For superior comfort and agility, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 43 is equipped with the latest generation of the company’s AIR BODY CONTROL system. This air suspension can firm up within a few tenths of a second to absorb a pothole, which makes the car’s ride more confortable.

Visually, the E 43 can be recognized by its 19-inch alloy wheels—20 inchers are optional—and its quad tailpipes.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 43 should hit North-American showrooms at the beginning of 2017.
