Tesla Must Recall The Model X

Published on April 11, 2016 in Recalls by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Bad news for Tesla: a few short weeks after starting to deliver its much-awaited Model X SUV, the Californian manufacturer will have to recall pretty much every single SUV they sold.

Every Model X built between September 2015 and March 26, 2016 were built with a defect in the third row of seats. It seems like the reclining mechanism of the seats can slip in an accident, which could cause injuries.

Tesla says that one of its suppliers is to blame here, which incorrectly manufacturered Tesla's design of the seatback recline mechanism.

About 2,700 units will have to be recalled. Tesla has already contacted the affected customers, and everything should be repaired in the next five weeks.
