A Canadian Supplier Will Help Elio Motors Build Its Engines

Ever heard of Elio Motors? For the last few years, this startup has been trying to launch their three-wheeled vehicle. Announced at a base price of USD$6,800 and capable of recording fuel consumption numbers as low as 2.8 litres per 100 km, this little car has a nice future ahead of it. However, the manufacturer has been struggling to launch it because of financial issues.

It seems like it hit an important milestone: Elio Motors just announced they found a supplier to build their engine. A Canadian company, Linamar, will be tasked with supplying the parts for the 0.9-litre, three-cylinder unit.

According to Elio Motors, production should start in 2017, approximately three years before the original announcement.

The future is actually looking bright for Elio Motors; it's too early to tell if their vehicle will be successful, but we can't wait to drive the three-wheeled car when it comes out.
