Double Recall for the Fiat 500 and Jeep Wrangler

Here is an interesting double recall from FCA: globally, 41 000 units of the Fiat 500 and about half a million Jeep Wranglers need to go back to the shop to be potentially repaired.

Let’s start with the Fiats. On the 500 city car produced between 2012 and 2016, a specific part of the manual transmission is flawed. In some cases, this may make steering the car impossible. Note that only the non-turbo models are affected, so if you have a 500 Turbo or a 500 Abarth, no worries.

The other recall covers a lot more vehicles. The 2012-2016 Jeep Wrangler came with a clockspring that might stop working if covered in dirt of grime. This would make the Wrangler prone to grievous injury, since the side airbags would not deploy. And since Jeeps usually go play in the mud, this should be an important thing to fix.

For both cases, FCA will send letters to the affected customers.
