2018 Audi A5 and S5 revealed

Audi isn’t known for taking risks when it comes to their vehicles’ styling. Even its most powerful supercar, the R8, isn’t particularly flamboyant… especially if you compare it to its Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracán.

The latest generation of the Audi A5 has just been unveiled, but unless you know your Ingolstadt vehicles, you probably won’t realize it is an all-new model. From a styling standpoint, it looks like an updated version of the current A5.

Based on the chassis of the new A4, the A5 is first of all lighter: depending on the version, the coupe sheds up to 60 kg compared to the outgoing model.

Inside, we recognize the Audi virtual cockpit, which has proven quite popular in the TT and A4. The rest of the cabin, despite not being exactly revolutionary, received a few well thought-out upgrades.

Mechanically, the A5 will probably feature the same engines as the A4, which is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and a diesel of the same displacement. Because of the emissions scandal surrounding the latter powertrain, its release will likely be delayed. In the S5, a twin-turbo, 3.0-litre V6 will send its 354 horsepower to all four wheels through an automatic gearbox.
