Red Bull now has its Own Megacar, the AM-RB 001

This morning, Red Bull became the first energy drink company to develop its own vehicle: in a partnership with Aston Martin, the American brand announced the AM-RB 001, a very limited-edition supercar. It will be built by Aston Martin, but was engineered by Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer at Red Bull Racing Formula 1.

Contrary to what Red Bull’s slogan might suggest, this car doesn’t have wings; thanks to Mr. Newey’s work, most of its downforce will be generated under the vehicle.

There will be two versions of the AM-RB 001: one will be road-legal, the other will be optimized for track duty. According to Aston Martin, the "track-day special" will be faster than a Formula 1; as for the roadgoing model, it should be able to trail an LMP1 race car… While still offering A/C and a sound system.

Under the hood, we don’t know exactly what is going on. However, we DO know that Aston Martin wants to put a naturally-aspirated V12 there, and that the AM-RB 001 should have a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.
