Toyo Tires Ferret: To Go Anywhere

Published on July 21, 2016 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Toyo just launched a nice little promo video where they showcase their most recent creation, the Ferret. The truck was created to highlight the Open Country tire.

Based on the chassis of a 1959 English military vehicle, the vehicle has been thoroughly modified. Apart from the tires, there is also a pair of hubs in the centre which can be dropped via a hydraulic setup. Technically though, only one wheel was added to the Ferret; on the standard military vehicle, there is a spare tire on the left side.

The machinegun turret was replaced by a compressed air cannon capable of shooting a grappling hook; this is helpful to get over vertical obstacles.

A suspension from King Shocks helps the Ferret to jump in the air and land without too much damage.

Finally, the power necessary to move this heavy piece of equipment comes from a Chevrolet LS V8 engine.

In the video, you see BJ Baldwin, who usually races Trophy Trucks in the desert, having fun in the woods with it.
