You Can’t Have a 2016 Ford Focus RS

We only wish we were kidding. The Focus RS has done the rounds on the web for the better part of a year now, and as both the hype and the anticipation grew, potential buyers began salivating and placing orders.

For lovers of hot hatchbacks and hooning, the Focus RS is a dream come true, especially when Ford’s made it plainly clear that Ken Block was involved in the car’s fine-tuning.

Its specs are all about pleasing: turbo, AWD, six-speed manual, hatchback, big brakes, big wheels, 350 horsepower and 350 torques. Seriously, what more can a warm-blooded male or female who loves cars want? How about a 2016 Focus RS? Sorry. Not going to happen.

Despite Ford promising that they would build as many as necessary to please all, they somehow didn’t plan on “all” being everyone and their mothers. The extreme demand coupled with issues with the Saarlouis plant in Germany has forced the Blue Oval to cancel all outstanding orders for the 2016 model year.

Obviously, this means further delays for those that put in their orders many months ago. Ford’s plan is to move on to the 2017 model year when production resumes some time in late August or possibly early September. Existing orders will be honoured and prioritized.
