2017 Buick LaCrosse: We’re Driving it This Week
The Car Guide is heading to the west coast of the United States, more precisely in Portland, Oregon, to slide behind the wheel of the all-new 2017 Buick LaCrosse.
Not only is the car built on a new, more rigid and lighter platform, but along with the use of high-strength steel, the automaker claims a weight loss of 300 lbs. (136 kg). That will obviously have a positive effect on driving dynamics, performance and fuel economy.
A new generation of the 3.6-litre V6 will find its way under the hood of the LaCrosse midsize sedan. Fitted with direct injection, cylinder deactivation and an automatic start/stop system, this engine should produce 305 horsepower and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. It will be managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A front-wheel drivetrain will motivate base versions of the 2017 Buick LaCrosse, while AWD will be optional. The latter uses two clutches to provide better performance and for efficiently splitting available power between the rear wheels. Suspension and steering components have also been revised for a sportier drive.
The cockpit will boast improved fit and finish in addition to new technology and Buick’s QuietTuning sound-insulation process.
