Volkswagen refreshes Jetta GLI for 2016 model year

Looking for hot hatch performance with sedan styling?

Volkswagen has your back, with the redesigned 2016 Jetta GLI, a car that gets a sportier look to match its GTI-derived performance chops.

The new GLI, which Volkswagen calls "the sedan equivalent of the Golf GTI," a car that won Motoring TV 2015 Car of the Year honours, is powered by the same 210-horsepower 2.0-litre turbocharged EA888 four-cylinder engine as its hatchback brethren.

New for 2016 is the GLI's styling, a much needed upgraded and a major departure from the previous version that only sported a red-lined grille in a nod to the GTI.

The new GLI gets a much more GTI-like look, with the sedan's front bumped more closely resembling that of the COTY winner.

Also new for the 2016 GLI is a revised infotainment system, a navigation system, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, Volkswagen's Post-Collision Braking system, and adaptive headlights.
