Plum Crazy returning to Dodge Charger, Challenger for 2016
Mopar fans everywhere are likely rejoicing at the return of the legendary Plum Crazy paint colour on the 2016 Charger and Challenger, including the pavement-pounding SRT Hellcat models.
The colour with the cult-like following, which first debuted in 1970, is back on the blacktop for 2016, with Dodge opening its order books in October for a limited run of cars donning the historic hue.
"From the aggressive and in-your-face styling of the SRT Hellcat models, the reverberating black stripes on our Shaker models, to the nostalgic dual A-line side stripes in satin black or gloss white on the R/T Classic model, Plum Crazy further builds on Dodge brand's muscle car roots and adds to Challenger and Charger’s vibrant legacy," Dodge and SRT design head Mark Trostle said in a statement.
Plum Crazy will be available on nearly all Charger and Challenger models, from the base SXT all the way up to the 707-horsepower Hellcat.
The automaker won't say how many orders it will take for Plum Crazy cars— folks who have already booked orders for 2016 model year cars can tick the Plum Crazy option box beginning in September—but if history is any indication, it will like be 8,000 or less total cars.
