North Americans dreaming about sporty wagons landing on our shores will have to keep doing just that, with Subaru detailing its all-new Levorg sport tourer that will be sold in Europe.

The car, essentially a Impreza wagon, is the "spiritual successor" to the Legacy wagon Subaru used to sell before reducing the car to the sedan version after the last generation.

The Levorg will only be available in GT trim, with its all-new 1.6-litre turbocharged flat four-cylinder putting power to all four wheels.

The new engine, which features direct injection, makes 168 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, offering the same performance as the automaker's naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre despite being 36 per cent smaller.

While there's no WRX or WRX STI variant to speak of just yet, the Levorg is an intriguing platform for Subaru fans.
