BMW unveils drool-worthy Concept M4 GTS

The name may have changed but the performance variations of BMW's M coupe continue to roll, with the automaker unveiling the BMW Concept M4 GTS.

Expanding on the already stout M4 that was introduced last year, the Concept M4 GTS sports new technologies "destined to make their production debut" in a new model BMW plans to unveil at a later date, including an innovative water injection system in the engine and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) taillights.

BMW won't say how much power the Concept M4 GTS makes, but did say back in March that the system, piloted in the 2015 MotoGP safety car, "achieved a tangible boost in performance" compared to the numbers made by the M4's turbocharged six-cylinder.

The 3.0-litre engine in the production car currently makes 425 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque.

What we do know is that the car wears a manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing, both made of carbon fibre, a carbon fibre-reinforced hood, and polished alloy and orange 666M wheels that measure 19 inches up front and 20 inches around back.

Stay tuned for more info on the latest in a string of special M coupe models that includes the likes of the M3 Evolution, M3 Sport Evolution, M3 GT, M3 CSL, M3 GTS and M3 CRT.
