2016 BMW M2 as fast as M4 in sprint from 0 to 100 km/h
For those BMW fans that feel like the M235i just isn't enough, the folks Munich have heeded your calls with the 2016 BMW M2.
Where the M235i, perhaps unfairly, wasn't considered a true M car by aficionados, the BMW M2 is undoubtedly the real deal, with its turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder putting out 365 horsepower and 343 lb.-ft. of torque.
An overboost function temporarily pushes that number to 369 lb.-ft.
With the optional dual-clutch automatic and launch control activated, the BMW M2 runs from a standstill to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.3 seconds—an identical figure to that of the 2015 BMW M4.
It completes the run in a very respectable 4.5 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox in place.
We haven't driven it yet, so we're not going to jump to any conclusions, but if these early numbers are any indication then the M2 is definitely a worthy successor to the much loved and missed 1 M Coupe.
