BMW has confirmed the high-performance M4 GTS special edition it unveiled in August will make its way to Canada next year.

Set to go on sale in the spring, the M4 GTS boasts an innovative water injection system that boosts engine output to 493 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque.

The M4 on which the M4 GTS is based makes 425 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque.

All that extra power helps the M4 GTS lay down a zero to 100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, .6 seconds faster than the M4, while lapping the 20.8-kilometre Nürburgring-Nordschleife in a claimed 7 minutes 28 seconds—in the neighbourhood of the Ferrari 458 Italia.

Not much else is known about the M4 GTS at the moment, aside from its manually adjustable carbon fibre front splitter and rear wing, a carbon fibre-reinforced hood, and polished alloy and orange 666M wheels.

Production will be limited to 700 units worldwide, 50 of which are destined for Canada.

Pricing will be announced later.
