Porsche adds Macan GTS model to lineup for 2016
Re-imagining the same vehicle again in only a way Porsche can, the German automaker has unveiled the all-new Macan GTS, "the thoroughbred sports car among SUVs."
The latest version of the Macan Porsche launched last year, the Macan GTS "provides an enthusiastic driving experience that enhances the current Macan range" with more power, a new suspension, and unique GTS-specific exterior and interior appointments.
Powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 found in the Macan S, the Macan GTS makes 360 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque—slotting it right in the middle of the Macan lineup.
The rest of the GTS' powertrain "matches up to the Macan Turbo," with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission working with Porsche's Traction Management system to variably engage the front axle depending on traction needs.
Porsche said its stability management system has also been recalibrated for the Macan GTS, while the tiny ute features air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard equipment.
Featuring a ride height that is 10 millimetres lower than the Macan Turbo, the GTS also boasts adjustable ride height and damper stiffness.
Outside, the Macan GTS is decked out in black accents, including 20-inch black wheels, while it gets a standard leather package and GTS sport seats inside.
Set to go on sale in the spring of 2016, the Macan GTS starts at $71,600—$14,400 more than the Macan S, and $11,800 less than the Macan Turbo.
