Nissan has yet again unveiled a redesigned member of its vehicle lineup, with the Sentra going under the knife for the 2016 model year.

The redesigned 2016 Sentra finds its place in the new Nissan lineup alongside the new-look Murano, Maxima and Altima, the latter of which it shares the most similarities with.

"For 2016, we're giving our popular Sentra a complete makeover—that's three-for-three for our top sedans," Nissan Canada marketing director Steve Rhind said in a statement. "Like Altima, we're taking a powerful nameplate and making it even better."

Nissan's second best-selling vehicle behind the Rogue crossover, the Sentra gets heavy revisions for 2016, including new front and rear fascias, fenders, hood, headlights and taillights.

Inside, the revised 2016 Sentra features a new steering wheel, new available power driver's seat, a new centre cluster and audio display design, and a new console and shifter knob.

The new car also gets a retuned suspension that features a 10 per cent increase in spring and damper rates, as well as enhanced body stiffness.

All 2016 Sentra models feature a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood, while S and SV trims can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The 2016 Sentra is set to go on sale in early 2016.
