The Ford F-Series continues to lead light vehicle sales in Canada by a long shot despite an 11 per cent year-over-year decline in November, according to a report from DesRosiers Automotive Consultants.

Ford sold 8,253 F-Series pickups in November, according to numbers compiled by DesRosiers, and has sold 109,519 so far in 2015, well more than any other marquee on the Canadian market.

Ram Trucks' light- and heavy-duty pickups were the next best-selling nameplate in Canada for the month, with 5,644 units sold.

That's a 17.7 per cent decrease compared to last November, according to the data.

Canada-wide Ram pickup sales are up 5.9 per cent this year compared to 2014, with 84,858 units sold so far in 2015.

Landing third in overall vehicle sales in Canada for both the month and the year, and continuing to hold down its spot as the best-selling passenger car in Canada, is the Alliston, Ont.-built Honda Civic.

With the redesigned 2016 Civic sedan—more on that on an upcoming episode of Motoring TV—going on sale in mid-November, DesRosiers reports Honda dealers moved 5,082 units for the month, up 21.8 per cent compared to November 2014.

Honda has sold 60,963 Civics so far this year, down slightly from the 62,026 it moved through November 2014.

Other top sellers across the country for the month include the Ford Escape, GMC Sierra and Dodge Caravan, which all topped the 4,000 units sold mark in November.

Compact crossovers conquesting

The DesRosiers numbers show compact crossovers continue to show strongly in Canada, with 31,087 sold in November, a 10.2 per cent jump compared to the same month in 2014.

Compact crossover sales for the year hit 348,907 through November, up 8.5 per cent compared to the 321,694 sold year-to-date in 2014—a number that jumps to a shade less than 400,000 when luxury compact crossovers is included.

Pickup sales were down slightly for the month but up for the year, with 324,246 sold through 2014, while passenger car sales are down, coming in at 50,306 for the month compared to 54,534 in November 2014.

Passenger car sales for the year are at 674,900 compared to 715,790 sold through last November.
