Chevrolet Trax gets makeover for 2017

Chevrolet is overhauling its Trax compact crossover for the 2017 model year with a familial look that could soon work its way through the rest of the brand's CUV lineup.

While the original Trax, introduced in Canada in 2013, two years before it went on sale in the United States, resembled Chevrolet's previous design language, recent updates to the Volt electric vehicle, Camaro sports car, Cruze compact and Malibu family sedan—warranted updates to the smallest of the automaker's crossover entries.

Where the previous Trax looked like a bloated version of the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact hatch, the 2017 version has a look all its own while still fitting in with the rest of the brand's lineup.

New front and rear fascias and redesigned head- and taillights highlight the new look outside, while the 2017 version's interior looks like it could have been pulled from any one of Chevrolet's new or redesigned vehicles.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cornerstones to Chevrolet's connectivity suite, are available alongside 4G LTE with Wi-Fi.

The 2017 Trax is set to go on sale this fall.
