Refreshed 2017 Toyota Highlander to debut in New York
A seriously overhauled version of the Toyota Highlander is set to debut at the New York auto show, sporting a new look and new powertrains to match.
The 2017 Highlander retains the basic styling of the third-generation version that debuted at the same auto show three years earlier, but adds new upper and lower front grille designs, and a slight revamp to the look of the tailgate.
Under the hood lies a new, "more powerful" version of the Highlander's 3.5-litre V6, though Toyota did not say how much power it will make.
It also gets an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota said Highlander Hybrid models will also get the new 3.5-litre engine.
Also new for 2017 is an SE trim on gas-powered models that features sportier suspension tuning, 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and a blackout-look grille, headlights and roof rails.
The 2017 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid will hit dealerships in the fall, according to Toyota.
