2016 Honda Civic coupe starts at $19,455 in Canada
The 2016 Honda Civic coupe is now available at Canadian dealers and starts at $19,455, nearly $3,500 more than the entry-level Civic sedan.
The new Civic coupe skips right over the base DX trim and straight to the LX, which includes features like cruise control and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It comes powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that makes 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque, and puts power down through the choice of six-speed manual or continuously-variable transmissions.
The former is priced at $19,455, while the latter is listed at $20,755.
By comparison, the LX sedan with the manual and continuously-variable transmissions is priced at $18,890 and $20,190, respectively, both of which are $565 less than equivalent LX coupes.
The Civic EX-T coupe, meanwhile, starts at $24,555, which is $435 less than the EX-T sedan.
No EX trim is available in coupe guise.
The EX-T comes powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder mated to a continuously-variable transmission, and makes 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Honda Sensing package, which includes safety features like forward collision warning, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control, adds $1,000 to LX CVT EX-T coupes.
Underpinned by the same powertrain as the EX-T, the Civic coupe in Touring trim is priced at $27,555—$565 more than the equivalent sedan.
Fuel economy ratings provided by Honda show LX manual models burning 8.9 L/100 km in the city and 6.1 L/100 km on the highway, both of which are slightly worse than the equivalent sedan, while LX CVT models get then same 7.8 L/100 km city and 5.8 L/100 km highway as their four-door siblings.
Civic coupes in EX-T and Touring trims get ratings of 7.5 L/100 km city and 5.6 L/100 km highway, the former being 0.1 L/100 km better and the latter 01. L/100 km worse than equivalent sedans.
If it all sounds confusing, it is.
